Wright County Board approves lake improvement district

The Wright County Board unanimously adopted a resolution establishing the proposed Mink-Somers Lake Improvement District Tuesday.

Chief Deputy Attorney Brian Asleson said the county heard “overwhelming support” for the move during a public hearing three weeks ago.

Asleson explained that the seven people appointed to the lake improvement district board will serve until the district’s first annual meeting, which is expected to take place in August.

At that time, board members will be elected for staggered terms.

Asleson said that one of the powers that was not granted to the district was regulation of surface use of the lake, such as boating.

“We were hoping to keep that county-wide, rather than by specific lakes,” Asleson commented.

Odds and ends

In other business, the board:

• approved a bid of $3,237,537 from Dennis Fehn of Albertville for improvements to County Road 19 in Albertville.

County Engineer Wayne Fingalson said this was the first time the county has allowed bidders to download the proposal for bids rather than picking it up in person or asking the county to mail it.

Fingalson said this will save the county staff time and money.

Of the 43 plan holders for the County Road 19 project, 33 chose to download the information.

• acknowledged retiring Land Records Administrator Mary Palmquist of Silver Creek Township for her 27 years of service to Wright County.

• accepted a bid of $14,984 from Loberg Electric of Buffalo for electrical work related to the west parking lot expansion at the Wright County Government Center.

• awarded a contract for special inspections and material testing recommendations to Braun Intertec in the amount of $103,985.

• revoked a portion of CSAH 14 right-of-way to the jurisdiction of Rockford Township, and vacated a portion of the road, retaining right of access.
