DC to hire Jennissen

Dean Jennissen, former Dassel Elementary teacher, and the middle school dean of students until 2001, will be returning to the DC School District as high school principal.

Jennissen is currently the Annandale Middle School principal, but is looking forward to coming back.

“I’m looking forward to returning to the community and DC is an excellent school system. This is also an opportunity for me to work with high school students,” Jennissen said.

This will give him the experience of working with students and staff at all levels, he said.

He is very excited about working with the upcoming seniors who were in his last year of teaching fourth grade, he said.

Being a wrestling coach is not currently in his plans, he said. In the past, he has very successfully coached wrestling for DC and Annandale.

Jennissen will be replacing the current high school principal, Mark Herman who will be retiring at the end of the school year.

The DC School Board still needs to approve his hiring, which is expected to take place at Thursday’s meeting, with Jennissen in attendance.
