A rollover car accident last month in which Adam Kappes, 17, of Dassel was a passenger has left him facing rehabilitation at the Sister Kenny Institute with the hope of walking once again.

Kappes suffered a broken wrist, a broken shoulder, multiple broken ribs, and is currently paralyzed from the waist down because of a serious spinal injury.

The accident occurred between Grove City and Cosmos June 21.

Kappes was raised in Lester Prairie until the age of 12. He lost his dad, Kent, in 1999 and when his mom, Deb, married Alvin Arens, the family moved to Dassel.

A benefit for Kappes will take place Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Dodge House in Lester Prairie.

There will be a beer bust from 4-8 p.m. and a silent auction from 6-8 p.m. Beer bust tickets are available for $5 in advance or $7 at the door.

Tickets will also be sold for four cash drawings of $25 each and are available at the Dodge House.

In addition, a benefit run is scheduled Saturday, Sept. 22.

For cash or silent auction donations, tickets, or for more information, contact Lee Kappes at (612) 702-2661 or Brady Ernst at (320) 420-5333.
