Downtown Cokato is now home to a new hair and tanning salon
By Kristen Miller
After commuting for several years to Kimball, Sandy Zitzloff of Cokato decided to bring her hair care business closer to home.
The Hair Loft is now open for business and is located along Broadway Avenue in downtown Cokato, across the street from the Pizza Factory.
“I wanted to be here with my kids as they’re getting older,” she said.
Zitzloff and her husband, Blaine, have two children, Dylan, 13, and Caleigh, 8.
Now, Zitzloff will only be blocks away from home in her new business, The Hair Loft.
The small but cozy salon offers total hair care including perms, color, foils, cuts, and styles for women, men, and children. Other services include waxing.
Coming in December, Zitzloff will also offer tanning.
The Hair Loft carries the Sexy line of hair care products.
“It covers everything from curly to straight, volume and colored-treated hair,” Zitzloff said.
Products for men include the American Crew line.
Getting the store up and running within a month’s time was a bit challenging for Zitzloff and her husband.
“We’ve done a lot of work in here,” she said.
Before it became The Hair Loft, Joan Keskey had a salon in the space.
Although she opened for business last Wednesday, Zitzloff has not completed her remodeling. In the entryway, there will be tin ceilings and a sign outside.
“It’s going to look fun,” she said.
While she has retained many of her customers from her previous shop in Kimball, she is also hoping to increase her clientele.
“It will be interesting to see what Cokato is like for business, but I’m not worried about it,” she said.
Someday, if and when a larger space is available in town, Zitzloff will think about upgrading, but for now she is pleased with her new shop.
The Hair Loft is open Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m to 5 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays by appointment. Call Zitzloff for an appointment or gift certificates at (320) 286-0065.
