Nelson's Bar opening soon

Fun, entertainment, and great food is the goal of Nelson’s Bar and Grill owners Corey Nelson and Mark Determan of St. Cloud.

Nelson’s Bar and Grill, located along Millard Avenue in Cokato, is set to open within the next three weeks.

Nelson and Determan are long-time friends who have dreamed of opening their own bar for some time now.

With the former Finish Line building for sale, they found it a great opportunity to get out of St. Cloud and do something different, Nelson said.

“We just want to offer a place for people to come, and have a good time,” Nelson said.

There will be a variety of food on the menu including, soups, sandwiches, burgers, salads, pizzas, and plenty of appetizers.

Nelson’s was issued an on/off sale 3.2 license by the Cokato City Council. Once the city adopts a liquor ordinance, they will pursue a strong liquor license.

Once the owners have gotten their “feet wet,” they are hoping to expand their menu and have daily lunch and dinner specials.

Currently, they are busy remodeling and giving the new restaurant a facelift, which includes redoing the floors, kitchen, and painting.

There will be a restaurant and dining area on the main floor, along with a big screen TV for the local sports fans.

The lower level will have a bar, music, and games. On occasion, Nelson’s will host live bands, DJs and karaoke.

Nelson’s has big plans for evenings of entertainment including a limo night, and block parties.

Once football season begins, Nelson’s will offer game day food and drink specials.

Right now, Nelson’s is looking for a good cook with a homemade touch, according to Determan.

Hours of business will be Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday noon to 10 p.m.
