Mark your calendar for the once per month two-day sale

One more stop has been added to the agenda of those, especially a large metro following of women, who regularly frequent unique shops in the area during once-per-month sales.

The newest unique destination is Stone Cottage Gallery on the north shore of Waverly Lake, which is an art studio and gallery.

The gallery’s grand opening was May 4 and 5.

“We had a very successful opening. I did pretty well as far as selling prints right off the bat,” gallery owner and artist Patricia Gilmer-Reinert said.

Reinert’s paintings are impressionistic landscape in oil on canvas. Prints of original artwork are also available, which reduces the price.

“The prints are called giclees, which are digital reproductions on canvas,” Reinert said.

In addition to Reinert’s paintings, prints, and miscellaneous unique items, an additional artist will be invited to display items at the monthly sales.

“There may be someone with jewelry, antiques, or pottery with me so it’s not just my paintings every single month,” Reinert said.

“I’ve been painting for about 10 years, and still take classes at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts,” Reinert said.

“I hadn’t done any painting, besides on walls,” Reinert laughs, “until 10 years ago.”

Reinert has a painting on display at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts in a show that just opened May 17.

“People also come to me with pictures from trips or of farms or lake scenes, and commission me to paint their photo. But, I don’t paint faces or portraits,” Reinert explained.

The studio is a newly renovated space that once was the Reinert’s summer cabin on Waverly Lake.

“We tore half of the cabin down and rebuilt it with a studio and just moved in last November,” Reinert said.

“I was in the interior design business – so people around here knew me for that, but I haven’t been in that business since 2000,” Reinert said.

When not spending time in her new art studio, Reinert “does the books” for her husband Mike’s drywall business, and she works part-time at New Beginnings in Waverly.

Mike and Patricia have five children who are Nicole, Megan, Blake, Katie, and Thom.
