A Big Tyme change of owners

Long-time owner of Big Tyme Collision and Towing will focus primarily on towing

Jeremy Greiner, 31, of Dassel, has had it in his blood to work on cars since he was a little boy.

Even as early as the age of 6, Greiner has been coming to work with his dad.

Now, after 16 years of working for his father, Ron’s business, Big Tyme Collision and Towing, Greiner is taking over, but only partly.

Last year, the 57-year-old decided he was too young to retire but wanted to slow down a bit. So, Ron cut the business in half, leaving the collision and auto repair to his son, but keeping the towing business.

“I’ve appreciated the fine customer relations,” Ron said.

He assures customers that his son, Jeremy, is fully capable of running a successful business and that the two are still out to serve.

On Aug. 17, Jeremy became the official owner of Big Tyme Collision. Ron will be keeping the name for the towing business although he will be changing the spelling to differentiate the two business; Big Time Towing and Recovery.

“My wife, Nina and I, congratulate Jeremy for taking over this facility,” Ron said.

Big Time Towing and Recovery serves both the Meeker and Wright County Sheriff’s Departments as well as the Minnesota State Patrol.

Aside from the ownership, nothing about Big Tyme Collision has changed.

It still offers free loaner cars, frame work and repair, lifetime warranties on all repairs, and works with all insurance agencies.

In 2003, a new, state-of-the-art building was constructed to house the auto repair shop and the modernized paint shop.

Business has been good for the two businesses. Many of the Greiners’ customers are referrals and come from around the area, including Hutchinson and Litchfield.

“The city of Dassel has provided very well,” Jeremy said.

He, his wife, and three daughters live north of Dassel.

“My youngest might work with me someday,” Jeremy said.

Five-year-old Cambria works out in the garage with her father from time to time and even knows some of her tools, Jeremy said. He call her his “garage monkey.”

Big Time Towing and Recovery is still open 24 hours and can be reached by calling (320) 275-3960. Big Tyme Collision can be reached at (320) 275-2966. Both are located on Highway 12 South in Dassel.
