Don’t miss a ‘Tiger-rific’ time

April 7, 2008

It’s time once again for the Tiger Fun Fair, this Saturday, April 12 from 4-8 p.m.

In its third year the Tiger Fun Fair promises to be another family- friendly evening full of food, games, and activities.

Bring your appetite for food and fun to the Tiger Fun Fair hosted by the Delano Elementary School Partners in Education (PIE) group.

This is something my children and I look forward to each year. Not only are all of the games and activities a blast, but it’s fun for children to hang out with friends from school.

It’s also a great place to meet other parents and members of our community.

This admission-free event is open to the Delano School Community and will take place at the Tiger Activity Center.

Children are sure to enjoy the new Joust/Bungee fun inflatable, the 60-foot castle inflatable obstacle course, and the Tiger moon walk.

Mister Petals the clown will be returning this year, and the Tiger Dance Team clinic will be performing.

There will be over 45 games, including; clown bean bag toss, tic-tac-toe, dart throw, frog hop, lollipop tree, junk food walk, tractor pull, duck pond, fish pond, treasure chest, pop bottle toss, shooting gallery, hockey hot shot, high striker, super hoops, soccer kick, sports radar, ping-pong shot, and many more.

Some of the activities available to entertain children and adults are: balloon animals, face painting, tattoo parlor, and the popular crazy hair booth.

The crazy hair booth is where you will find me with colored hair spray in hand. Last year, I ended up a mess, but it was a lot of fun!

Food will be available such as; cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, pizza, candy, corn dogs, mini donuts and root beer floats, to name just a few.

A silent auction will take place with themed baskets like; beach, sports, toys, Vikings, Twins, Wild, Timberwolves, Tiger school spirit, baby gifts, game day, gourmet chocolate, crafts, and fiesta. Bidding for these items opens at 4 p.m. and closes at 7 p.m.

Again, this event is admission-free with all of the games, activities and food available for purchase with tickets.

Tickets are 25 cents each and can be purchased at the door the night of the fun fair.

According to the Tiger Activity Center policy, all children under 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

The Delano Elementary Tiger Fun Fair is successful each year because of the great students, parents, teachers, and community members who contribute their hard work, time, talent, and donations.

The Delano Elementary PIE is grateful to all of the classrooms for their contributions to the themed baskets and class posters, as well as to all of the volunteers who make this Tiger Fun Fair possible.

Last year Mr. Finn’s shop class from Delano High School built 16 carnival booths, 23 National Honor Society students helped, and over 150 volunteers filled the 300 shifts necessary to run the fair.

Also, there were 70 silent auction items donated last year, and over 14,000 prizes were given out.

The third annual Tiger Fun Fair will be fun for all ages and I hope to see you there Saturday, April 12.
