Get ready to greet Him

The Advent season is a time of preparation and joyful expectation of the coming of Jesus, born for us in the little manger in Bethlehem.

We take time out of our busy schedules to spend time in prayer, in doing good things for others, in expressing our love for family and friends. Advent is a special season to get ready for this beautiful visit from God through the vulnerability of a little baby.

We will be celebrating God’s visit to us poor humanity in a couple of weeks, and it is important for us to be ready.

What will happen on Christmas Eve, is that on a very cold winter night while everyone is sleeping, without any fanfare, without anyone noticing except those invited through special graces, God will be born of the Virgin Mary. He will be surrounded by an ox and an ass, with straw, wrapped in swaddling clothes.

Most will not even know what has taken place because most will not be preparing or getting ready to greet Him. Let us not make the same mistake.

We are a privileged few who are aware of the reality of God’s visit to us over 2,000 years ago. We are graced and blessed with the awareness of this incredible divine intervention of God’s incomprehensible love for us. He will be sending to us His only begotten Son to eventually save us all from our sins.

So let us prepare – let us be ready with a joyful expectation in the coming of our Savior, who begins life in such humble surroundings. Let’s make this the best Christmas ever!!!
