The Darwin Community Club gathered May 19 for a meal and a meeting at the Darwin Rod and Gun Club.
Jan Werner informed the club she booked Terry Shaw for the free entertainment that will take place outside the Darwin Museum, Monday, June 23 at 7 p.m.
“He is a great entertainer,” Werner said.
The Community Club will meet in Schoolhouse Park prior to the outdoor concert for a picnic dinner and a short meeting.
During Monday’s meeting, Judy Barka, Meeker County Memorial Hospital Foundation assistant, presented the plans for phase one of the hospital expansion and remodeling already in process.
Barka said the hospital has never used tax dollars for funding including the new expansion, and it is intending to keep it that way.
The majority of the money for expansion is being generated through revenue bonds.
Chris Hansen, Community Club member, is on a community fundraising committee, and he asked the club to consider donating money to the hospital either as a one-time donation or annually.
The club agreed to a $500 one-time donation thus far.
Another Community Club member suggested the club donate money to the services of the Dassel Volunteer Fire Department for their services to Darwin residents.
The club agreed to a $500 donation.
At last month’s meeting, the club contributed $2,000 for the two “Welcome to Darwin” signs to be made by Precast and placed on both ends of Highway 12. The cost was a three-way split between the Darwin Lions Club, the City of Darwin, and the Community Club.
