Races for commissioner seats in local counties settled

Several county commissioner seats were filled in local counties, some in close races.

Wright County

Two county commissioner seats were open in Wright County this year, including the position currently served by Jack Russek of Delano (District 3), and the position served by Karla Heeter of Silver Creek Township, which is District 1 (primarily the Annandale area).

Heeter did not re-file and has taken a job elsewhere. In this race, Rose Thelen of Clearwater defeated Annandale Mayor Sam Harmoning, receiving 5,703 votes compared to Harmoning’s 4,303.

In District 3, Russek retained his position on the board with 5,193 votes compared to 4,406 received by Matt Walker of Buffalo. in District 3.

McLeod County

In McLeod County, Paul Wright defeated Becky Felling with 2,012 votes to 1,430 in District 3.

Incumbent Ray Bayerl ran unopposed in District 1, and received 3,025 votes.

Incumbent Bev Wangerin held off challenger Milan Plath in District 5, with 1,781 votes to 1,613.

Carver County

In Carver County’s District 4, Tim Lynch of Mayer defeated Paul Neumann of Waconia with 4,404 votes to Neumann’s 4,084.

Tom Workman of Chanhassen ran unopposed in District 1, and received 7,153 votes.
