Waverly Daze is set Friday through Sunday, July 11-13

A new bean bag toss, fireworks, Wright County’s only fast pitch softball tournament, and a fishing contest are featured this year during Waverly Daze, from Friday to Sunday July 11-13.

Outgoing royalty Laura Jacobson and Abby Sawatzke are preparing to give up their crowns during coronation Sunday 3 p.m. at the new fellowship hall at St. Mary’s Church.

This year, five royalty candidates are vying for crowns, including Nadia Haaland, Brittany Hoiland, Courtney Karels, Christina Schnaible, and Ashley Reynolds.

The event is sponsored by the City of Waverly, Waverly Lions Club, Waverly Knights of Columbus, Waverly Fire Department, Waverly Lake Association, Waverly/Montrose Chamber of Commerce and Waverly Boosters Club.

The schedule includes the following:

Friday, July 11 (Family Fun Night)

• Tractor show Railroad Park, with setup at noon

• Family night summer recreation, which includes girls’ and boys’ recreational ball games at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 p.m

• Fireworks at 10:15 p.m. There will be a softball game following the fireworks.

• The Bare Foot Boogie Band is set Friday night from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Saturday, July 12

• Tractor show Railroad Park 8 a.m.

• Garden tractor pull 2 p.m.

• Softball tournament 8:30 a.m.

• Fishing contest will take place from 8 a.m. to noon.

• Waverly Daze 5k Run and Kids One Mile Run at 9 a.m.

• Volleyball is set for 9 a.m.

• Bean bag toss tournament at 11 a.m.

• Natural Balance Floral & Garden garden tour is set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Horseshoes at 1 p.m.

• Boat parade and wet meet at 3 p.m.

• Three-point basketball shoot-out, Legion Park, 5 p.m.

• St. Mary’s Catholic Church Mass at 5 p.m.

• Saturday Night Chopper World’s Nuttiest D.J. will perform from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Sunday, July 13

• Tractor show Railroad Park starts at 8 a.m.

• St. Mary’s Catholic Church will conduct Mass at 8 and 10:30 a.m.

• Softball and volleyball begins at 9 a.m.

• Pancake breakfast at the KC Hall is set for 7 to 11 a.m.

• Parade and tractor parade 1 p.m.

• KC pork chop dinner at Legion Park following the parade until 7 p.m.

• Live music at St. Mary’s Fellowship Hall by the Mid Minnesota Concert Band from 2 to 3 p.m.

• Coronation at the new St. Mary’s Fellowship Hall at 3 p.m. Food will be on sale by St. Mary’s youth group.

• Live music at ballpark by the Wagon Wheelers (a local band) from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.
