Office is now on northeast side of lake

If a person is going to work after retirement age, what better place to do that work than in your home like Denny Frey, owner of Frey Insurance Agency of Howard Lake?

Frey moved his insurance agency from his Highway 12 location in Howard Lake to his home, just on the northeast side of the lake, in January of this year.

“It’s just as easy for me to meet with people at my home than when I had people come to the office,” Frey explained.

“The telephone number is the same, the PO box is the same, it’s just the physical location that’s changed,” Frey laughed.

Now that Frey has reached retirement age, he wanted to lighten his load a bit, but still keep busy. He sold part of his business, the financial planning portion, last fall, but is still hard at it selling life, health, disability, and long-term care insurance.

“Everyone has a hobby when they retire. Mine will be trying to sell insurance,” Frey laughed. “No, my hobby is golf, I really enjoy it.”

Frey has lived in Howard Lake since 1970 and commuted to the Twin Cities for work until 1992, when he decided to get into the insurance business.

When he was just starting out, Frey worked at an office in Cokato for a year-and-a-half before embarking on his own business in Howard Lake in 1993. Frey’s company has been located in the Burkstrand Office Building until the recent move.

“You insure your car and your home, but you also need to insure yourself,” Frey said.

Frey is a member of the Central Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and holds a LUTCF designation.

He’s been a member of the American Legion for 37 years and the Howard Lake Business Association since 1993.
