With his easel set up across from the old Delano City Hall building and former library, Kevin Kluever, put his artistic talents to work.

As a stay-at-home father of two children, this artist from Minnetrista decided the historic building was perfect for his latest work of art.

While his children attend classes at the Delano Community Education building, he first sketched the old Delano City Hall before putting his brush and paints to the canvas.

“I was accepted into the Minnesota State Fair annual art exhibition this year,” Kluever said. “And, I will be working on a mural for the Maple Plain City Hall building.”

A self-taught artist, the Iowa native now works in acrylics, and specializes in architectural landscapes, murals, and reproductions of classic paintings. Kluever is also honing his portraiture skills.

Kluever paints his surroundings, capturing colors, lights, and shadows. He is a two-time recipient of the “Award of Excellence” at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. He also received honorable mention award in acrylic category at the 2004 Maple Grove Art Fair.
