Members of the Delano Area Chamber of Commerce received an update on the status of the Highway 12 reconstruction project at a meeting Thursday at city hall.
A Highway 12 task force has been formed by the chamber, with a kick-off meeting set for Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 9 a.m. at the State Bank of Delano.
“We will be discussing ideas for joint efforts in marketing, advertising, and sharing resources,” said chairperson of the chamber’s economic development committee Wendy Gilmer.

“In the next couple of weeks, the city will be meeting with businesses along the Highway 12 corridor to discuss specific issues related to their businesses,” Gilmer added.
These meetings begin Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 9 a.m. with a meeting at State Bank of Delano for businesses located in Delano Crossings. Any business owners located east of Ninth Street should attend this meeting.
Additional meetings include:
• for businesses located on the south side of Highway 12, west of Ninth Street, to the Crow River: Thursday, Feb. 28 at 9 a.m. at the Delano City Hall.
• for businesses located on the north side of Highway 12, west of Ninth Street, to the Crow River: Friday, Feb. 29 at 9 a.m. at the Delano City Hall.
• for businesses in downtown Delano: Tuesday, March 4 at 2 p.m. at Three Crows on River Street.
• for businesses located west of the Crow River to Bridge Avenue: Wednesday, March 5 at 9 a.m. at the Delano City Hall.

At the next regular Delano Area Chamber of Commerce meeting, Thursday, March 20, the city will also present its annual “State of the City” address, which will focus heavily on the Highway 12 construction project.
