Montrose Days promises to have something for everyone, with the coronation, dances, parade, Kids’ Fest and more, Friday through Sunday, Aug. 15-17.
The following is a breakdown of activities set to take place during Montrose Days.
Friday, Aug. 15
The festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. in Lions Park under the tent with the KRWC AM 1360 Road Show.
Saturday, Aug. 16
The doubles horseshoe tournament will take place at Lions Park, Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Later, the car show will begin at 9 a.m. at the Montrose Elementary School.
The kids are in for a treat with the children’s costume parade which will line up at city hall on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The Kids’ Fest will run from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and will meet under the tent. Lulu the clown will be making an appearance, along with the Teddy Bear Band, which will be playing under the big tent. Carnival games and a petting zoo will be another highlight of the Kids’ Fest.
Registration begins at 1 p.m. for the Kids’ Pedal Tractor Pull, with the tractor pull beginning at 1:30 p.m.
A beach party for the kids will take place under the big tent, and will be sponsored by the Montrose Lionesses, begining at 3:30 p.m., with the Montrose Junior Ambassador Program to follow at 5 p.m. Also happening at 5 p.m., the Montrose Fire Relief Association will be hosting a pork chop dinner in the fire barn. Dessert will follow the dinner at the Montrose Methodist Church.
The Saturday night dance will begin at 5 p.m. with music by “The Deep Fried Tweeters.” During the dance, children’s activities will be offered.
Sunday, Aug. 17
The Montrose Days parade is set for Sunday, Aug. 17 starting at 1 p.m.
The parade will begin on Buffalo Avenue north (CSAH 12) and proceed south to 1st Street south, turn west on 1st Street south to Emerson Avenue south, to 2nd Street south. At Center Avenue the parade will turn south to 3rd Street south, east to Buffalo Avenue south. Once at Buffalo Avenue the parade will turn north and proceed back to where it started.
Following the parade, the royal ambassador coronation will be conducted at the community center.
The medallion hunt will begin Sunday, Aug. 10, with clues in the city hall daily at 3:30 p.m.
Montrose Days will carry on, rain or shine, with tents for food booths.
