After 15 years of banking, Mike Seaberg couldn’t pass up the opportunity to manage a bank.
Seaberg, who was vice president at the State Bank of Cokato, is now the executive vice president at First National Bank where he assumes more managerial responsibilities.
After 30 years, Ty Knoff continues to serve as bank president, with Seaberg in charge of primary bank operations.
Former vice president Jason Ryan has taken a position at First Minnesota Bank in Glencoe.
Seaberg also has a seat on the bank’s board of directors, but other than that and the title, the day-to-day operations similar to those of Ryan’s, Seaberg said.
After spending six years at the State Bank of Cokato, Seaberg had developed good, strong working relationships with the employees in which he is going to miss.
“That will be missed,” he said.
Although it’s a different bank, it’s in the same community, and Seaberg is up to the challenge of getting to know his new customers and staff.
“I enjoyed my time (at the State Bank). It’s provided me with the skills to move into this new role,” he said.
Seaberg’s duties at the State Bank were mainly commercial lending and managing the insurance and investment centers of the bank.
“So far, it’s been a real nice transition,” he said.
Seaberg will continue to be an investment representative for First National Bank, as well.
Originally, Seaberg is from Annandale. His undergraduate studies were completed at Hamline University in St. Paul, and his graduate school of banking in Boulder, Colo.
He has been married 15 years to his wife, Deb, and together they have three children Annie, 6, Emily, 4, and Dylan, 3. The family lives in Dassel.
Seaberg will continue to be active in the Cokato Chamber of Commerce, possibly local business and service organizations.
“I’m looking forward to bringing the spirit of the bank out into the community,” he said.
