Four injured in crash south of LP

Four people were transported to hospitals as the result of a two-vehicle accident southwest of Lester Prairie May 31.

The McLeod County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident which took place at the intersection of Dairy Avenue and 170th Street.

According to the sheriff’s office, Gerald Leonard Speckel, 75, of Coon Rapids, was driving a 1997 Buick LeSabre and pulled over to make a U-turn and struck a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Ricardo Cervantes Ruelas, 68, of Lester Prairie, when it was trying to avoid the collision by taking the opposite lane.

Speckel’s vehicle then struck a utility pole.

Both drivers and a passenger were transported by Ridgeview Ambulance to Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

Another passenger was transported by Glencoe Ambulance to the Glencoe Hospital.

Both vehicles sustained more than $1,000 in damage, according to the sheriff’s office.
