Women, mark your calendars for the third annual Community Women’s Celebration Saturday, May 3 at Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church in Cokato.

This year’s event will feature the program “Godly Women Out of History,” with narration, music, and 45 men and women in costume.

The program features several portrayals of remarkable women who once walked the earth blessing those in their path.

Women of all ages will have the opportunity to hear stories of significant women throughout history such as Mother Theresa, Corrie Ten Boom, Amelia Bloomer, Mrs. Martin Luther, Maria Von Trapp, and Harriet Tubman.

Writer, director, and narrator of “Godly Women Out of History,” Marcella Hansen, chose these particular women because of how their stories and works influenced and challenged her.

“These are women whose acts, deeds, and characters go on living and shining just the same,” Hansen said.

“Their candles have gone out, but their lights still shine,” she said.

Hansen belongs to Trinity Lutheran Church in the small town of Cyrus, Minn., located near Morris.

“The Lord has been good to us,” Hansen said, in reference to the program’s success.

This summer, the group will be going on an East Coast tour, presenting the program for a total of 67 times.

Hansen wrote this program to be enjoyed for all ages and all denominations.

This event is in collaboration with several Cokato churches. It is open to all and a free will offering will be accepted.

The program is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., but at this time, it is unclear whether there will be a breakfast or luncheon. Look for more details as the event draws near.
