Expressing our thankfulness

November 16, 2009

The Thanksgiving season is a special time of the year of giving praise and thanksgiving to God. Once a year, a day is set aside for expressing our thankfulness. It’s a reminder of all the things we have been blessed with. Our thanksgiving should be continual, not just on Thanksgiving Day, but each day throughout the year.

A thankful heart is not dependent on the material things we possess, but on the blessings that come from God Himself.

Thanksgiving expresses gratitude for what God does for us. Praise is our attitude toward God because of who and what He is.

It has been said, “We’re so concerned about tomorrow that we fail to be thankful for today.”

As we pause to thank Him for the blessings of the past year, we must not forget to thank Him for the lessons we have learned through our difficult times. We are not to be thankful for just the pleasant, easy things, but all things.

“In everything give thanks and praise.” I Thess. 5:18

In our day, walking is made up of many steps. God doesn’t lead us a year, a month, or even a day at a time, but in tiny little steps. “ A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.”

The reality of a cheerful person comes from a heart at peace with God.

An inner joy and radiance from a heart resting in God is reflected on the face, giving it a special glow.

Smiles are the outward expression of the inward joy of what God has bestowed upon us. He blesses each and everyone of us in His own special way. “A smile is a light in the window of the face that shows that a happy heart is at home.”

This Thanksgiving, pause a moment and reflect upon all the many blessings, small or big, that you have been blessed with, you’ll be amazed.
