HOWARD LAKE, MN – A pregnant Howard Lake woman and her two young children are OK after a crash along Highway 12 during which she tried to assist another who was in the ditch.

Angela Wagner, 31, of Howard Lake stopped alongside Highway 12 about two miles east of Howard Lake to help Martin Erickson, 45, of Howard Lake, who was in the ditch along Highway 12 in his 2006 Dodge pickup truck.

While stopped alongside the road, she was struck by a third vehicle driving eastbound, a 1991 Ford Explorer which was driven by Todd Eggers of Montrose, 47.

An ambulance was called to check on Wagner, along with her young daughters Grace, 4, and Faith, 7, who were in the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander she was driving at the time.

The icy conditions contributed to several accidents along that stretch of road, reported State Trooper Kathy Gilson.

Across two State Patrol districts, 25 serious accidents were reported over a period of four days due to icy roads.
