DELANO, MN The Delano Public Library has been transformed into a bright and cheerful place with the addition of colorful quilts. The quilts are displayed throughout the library in a large variety of patterns, colors, and designs.
The Calico Quilters group is sponsoring this quilt exhibit for the first time, which began Feb. 2 and continues through Thursday, Feb. 19.
The beautiful patches, blocks, and squares put together into beautiful quilts will give the library a warm a cozy atmosphere, and all are encouraged to stop by and admire them.
The Calico Quilters have been gathering for nearly 30 years.
“We owned the Calico Cat Quilt shop in Delano,” said Shirley Krueger. “I taught classes, made some good friends, and we started the group.”
Their meeting place has moved around over the years, but one thing has always remained the joy they share in quilting.
“We bring a dish to share, recipes, patterns, quilt designs,” she said. “And we just have a good ol’ time.”
Currently, the group of about 12, meet the first and third Thursday of each month at the Delano Library.
When they decided to sponsor a quilt exhibit, they weren’t sure what to expect, but have been pleasantly surprised with around 40 entries.
“It’s going to be awesome,” said Irene Psyk, a member of the Calico Quilters. “The response we’ve gotten is amazing.”
The Delano Calico Quilters group is sponsoring its first quilt exhibit at the Delano Public Library through Thursday, Feb. 19.
The exhibit will last for three weeks, and should brighten up the library, located at 160 Railroad Avenue, and add a warm cozy feeling during the cold month of Febrary.
Everyone is encouraged to stop by and admire the many quilts on display.
The exhibit is sponsored by the Calico Quilters, a Delano quilting group.
