Dassel’s 2009 Cutie Pie Pageant, “It’s Reigning Men,” is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28, 7 p.m. at the Dassel Elementary School Auditorium.
You won’t want to miss this first, fun-filled event as eight local men, dressing as women, vie for the honor of Dassel Cutie Pie.
Candidates include Matt Whittaker, Jim Stang, Chad Ardoff, Eric Johnson, Josh Roeser, Ron Beckman, Rob Veatch and Dave Sangren.
It takes real men to do this event. Not only are they providing entertainment to the community, but also are donating their time and talent to raise money for historic preservation, the arts and culture in the Dassel area.
Candidates will be escorted on stage by Kelly Babekuhl, Laurie Nelson, Shelly Grochow, Gail Ganser, Shari Forsman, Kari Anderson, Paula Trisko and Nancy Hanke.
Judges for the competition include Elaine Nordlie, Beth Flick, Sen. Steve Dille, Orland Nelson and Craig Kay.
Musical entertainment will be provided by the Bald Eagles, a four-member band from Red Wing.
Nine local artists including Bonnie Utecht, Joyce Aakre, Susie Maki, Brenda Rydberg, Dawn Gillman, Donna Larson, Leatrice Nielson, Georgiann Walker and Mary Jane Arens are donating and decorating chairs that will be used in the coronation ceremonies and auctioned off following in the Chair-ity Auction. Auctioneer is Derek Lundeen.
Jon Benson, Mike Ackerman and Carolyn Holje will emcee the event.
Committee members planning the pageant include Barb Kay, Sheryl Faust, Elaine Nordlie and Holje.
“Many other volunteers are working behind the scenes to make this exciting event one you won’t want to miss,” states Kay.
Proceeds will go to the Dassel Area Historical Society with a portion going to Southwest Minnesota Arts and Humanities Council.
