Tom Leyde, a Hutchinson resident who is employed at Riteway Manufacturing in Lester Prairie, was diagnosed with Stage 4 esophagus cancer Nov. 10.
Riteway Manufacturing will be hosting a benefit for Leyde Saturday, Dec. 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will include a silent auction ending at 1:30 p.m.
Donations for the silent auction will be accepted at Riteway Manufacturing, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, and at Minnesota Benefit Advisors in Hutchinson.
Donations for the silent auction are requested by Wednesday, Dec. 16.

The event will take place at Riteway Manufacturing, 2364 Highway 7 in Lester Prairie.
Lunch, including pulled -pork sandwiches, salad, chips, dessert, water, lemonade, and coffee, will be available for a free-will donation.
Leyde is being treated at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He started an aggressive chemo and radiation program Dec. 1. The treatment will continue for approximately six weeks.
Leyde and his wife, Michelle, will be staying in Rochester during the week and returning home on the weekends.
After six weeks of treatment, Tom will return home for 30 days to rest and recuperate. He will then return to the Mayo for a CT PET scan, and if all looks well, doctors will prepare for surgery to remove the tumor in his esophagus.
Tom and Michelle have three children. Michelle will be staying with him in Rochester as his caregiver.
