DELANO, MN – Love INC-Heartland will soon be able to assist those in need with a larger and more convenient facility.

In February, Love INC-Heartland is set to move to its new location at 318 Railroad Avenue in Delano.

“This is really a miracle,” said Pastor Terri Harris, executive director of Love INC-Heartland. “The community has come together. Everything has been donated.”

Though the rent in the new building will remain the same, utilities are estimated to increase about $60 per month.

The 3,000 square feet of retail and office space will double the current space, and there will be a much needed 1,000-square foot unheated warehouse that will help make donating easier.

There will be much more than clothing available to those in need, including furniture, baby items, and knick-knacks.

This year, volunteers donated 19,914 hours of service, providing for nearly 16,000 people in need.

Through Love INC-Heartland there are volunteers who supply transportation, help with moving, assisting with car repairs, and much more.

Love INC-Heartland was established in Delano in 2005. There are currently 20 churches in the area that have partnered with Love INC-Heartland.

With two full-time employees and over 1,000 active volunteers needy families in 11 local towns have been helped. In 2008, 11,000 needs were met increasing from 2,000 needs a year ago.

Currently, Love INC-Heartland is operating at level one with a clearinghouse and several gap ministries. There are still increased need for goods, services and volunteers to continue and expand services offered at this level.

“So far everything has been done free of charge for the new building,” said Harris. “From donated materials and time, professionals in the community have come together to help us accomplish God’s work.”

Roger Nelson of Delano has volunteered to work as the general contractor, and Intrcomm Technology has offered its services.

There are hopes to increase Love INC-Heartland’s hours once the move is completed. The items offered in the retail shop are available for anyone in the community to purchase.

“We have been so blessed,” beamed Harris. “It’s such a model of what Love INC is all about. It’s a joy to see.”

There will be a grand opening celebration planned and information will be released soon.

For the next month, the shop will offer pre-move bargains on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
