WRIGHT COUNTY, MN – In response to the increasing number of Minnesotans in danger of falling behind on mortgage payments or facing foreclosure, the Minnesota Home Ownership and Wright County Community Action are offering a free telephone seminar Tuesday, March 10 from 7 to 8 p.m.

Homeowners can call toll-free 877-850-7042 at this time for confidential information and support from mortgage and foreclosure experts.

“When you call, it kind of sounds like a talk radio program,” said Stephanie Bornetun of the Minnesota Home Ownership Center. Callers can listen to tips and advice or speak directly to an advisor.

Ed Nelson, communications and marketing manager for the Minnesota Home Ownership Center, will facilitate the conversation. Mortgage support advisors from Wright County Community Action will also assist homeowners with questions.

“As a homeowner, if you’d like to ask a question, you can press a button and get piped through to a foreclosure expert,” Bornetun said. Callers can choose to address the entire group of listeners or speak privately to an advisor. “It’s kind of neat like that,” she said.

“Struggling to keep up with a mortgage payment is a personal, stressful situation. Many homeowners want to know about their options, but are reluctant to come to a public event for advice,” Troy Olson of the Wright County Community Action said in a press release. “The telephone seminar is designed to give people basic information about potential options available through our mortgage support advisors so that homeowners can privately make the best choices for their personal situation.”

Since 2006, there has been a 336 percent increase in foreclosure property filings in Minnesota, according to a report from RealtyTrac.com.

For more information about the telephone seminar or to speak to a mortgage expert, call the home ownership center at (866) 462-6466, visit www.hocmn.org, or go to the Wright County Community Action web site at www.wccaweb.com.
