HOWARD LAKE, MN – More than 80 energetic runners took part in the first annual Turkey Tagalong Thanksgiving morning in Howard Lake.
“The event was a success!” commented organizer Kelli Burau, who thought of the idea while watching “The Biggest Loser,” on television.
“We collected a trunk full of non-perishable food items, which will be donated to the local area food shelf. There will definitely be a second annual, and we already have two businesses interested in sponsoring,” she added.
The fastest female was Tiffany Shimanski at 26:32.
The fastest male was Mike Steuernagel clocked at 20:03.
Burau expressed appreciation to Herald Journal for providing the route signs and mile markers, Carol Hayner at C & C Embroidery for the “great T-shirts and quick turnaround,” Burau said. “We also received a police escort on crossing Wright County Road 6 – this was great!”
