There are fun times ahead during the fourth annual school carnival sponsored by the Lester Prairie Advisory Committee (LPAC).
The event will take place Thursday, March 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Lester Prairie school gym.
What started as a family fun night has become an annual event that is not only fun, but which helps to support the school.
More than 20 games will be available, most of which are brought in by Jubilee Amusement, according to committee member Jenni Sebora.
Some of the games will be the same as in the past, but there will be some new games, as well.
There will also be face painting and tattoos available.
Some of the games and activities are organized by LPAC.
One of the most popular activities each year is the prize walk, and that will be back again this year.
Hot dog or barbecue meals will be available in the school cafeteria for $3.
Tickets will be available at the door at a cost of four tickets for $1.
Most games will take three tickets. The Kiddie Kastle will take four tickets, and cotton candy will be five tickets.
There will be no refunds for unused tickets. All proceeds from unused tickets will go to support Lester Prairie Schools.
Funds raised during the carnival this year will help the school to purchase technology items, such as SMART Boards.
Each year, LPAC uses the proceeds to help the school purchase items in a different area.
The first year, the funds were used to help with the purchase of playground equipment.
Another year, the money helped to support science curriculum.
This year, technology is the target area.
Want to help with the carnival?
Each year, Sebora said, one of the biggest challenges with the carnival is finding volunteers to help with set-up and cleanup, and to work shifts running the games.
Any parent who is interested in volunteering to help with the carnival is asked to contact Lisa Howard at (320) 485-2603 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Available shifts include 3:30 to 5 p.m. set-up, game shifts of either 5 to 6:30 p.m. or 6:30 to 8 p.m., or cleanup from 8 to 9 p.m.
More about the Lester Prairie Advisory Committee
The Lester Prairie Advisory Committee at Lester Prairie Schools is made up of parents, administrators, teachers, and students. The committee meets approximately six times a year in the school’s media center.
The purpose of the committee is to provide an advisory position on the district’s System Accountability Report (SAR), promote the school district in a positive way, maintain and develop community outreach programs, and provide other advisory functions as needed.
Meetings are open to any community member who would like to attend. The committee is an avenue for parents to get involved in school.
