DASSEL, MN Eggplants, squash, zucchini, and fresh baked breads were just some of the items found at the Dassel Farmers’ Market Sept. 3.
Nine vendors from within a 30-mile radius including Dassel growers stretched along the Atlantic Avenue in Bandstand Park, selling a variety of produce and homemade goodies during opening day.
Members from Kingston Apostolic Church’s youth group were serving up refreshments including root beer floats, hot dogs, as well as hot chocolate to help keep shoppers and vendors warm.
Other local churches or non-profit organizations interested in selling refreshments at future markets are ask to call Wayne Medcraft at (320) 275-9200.
Mike Scanlon, farmers’ market board president, found that the vendors he talked to thought the first day was a success. They particularly liked the park setting.
“I think all-in-all it went really well,” he said.
The market will be open rain or shine Fridays in September from 3 to 7 p.m., and from 3 to 6 p.m. in October.
