One killed, three injured in McLeod County snowmobile crashes

McLEOD COUNTY, MN – Three men were injured and another died as the result of three separate McLeod County snowmobile crashes the weekend of Dec. 18-19, according to the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office.

At 4 p.m. Dec. 19, the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash involving two snowmobiles.

The crash occurred in a drainage ditch near Dairy Avenue, north of 90th Street, southeast of Glencoe.

It involved two snowmobiles. The first was a 2007 Polaris 600 IQ, owned and operated by Trent Ronald Ondrachek, 20, of Glencoe. The second, a 2002 Polaris 700XCSP, also owned by Trent Ronald Ondrachek, was operated by Tanner Arnold Ondrachek, 20, of Glencoe.

Trent was transported by Ridgeview Ambulance to Glencoe Hospital where he was pronounced deceased as the result of his injuries.

Tanner was also transported by Glencoe Ambulance to Glencoe Hospital for injuries received.

No further details about the incident were available from the sheriff’s office when this issue went to press.

Both snowmobiles sustained more than $500 in damage.

The Minnesota State Patrol and Plato first responders also responded to the scene.

The Ondrachek incident occurred in the same location as the first injury crash of the weekend, which took place just after 3 p.m. Dec. 18, according to the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office.

Brian Gatz, 44, of Lester Prairie, was injured while driving a 2005 Polaris 900 RMK.

Gatz was transported by Glencoe ambulance to the Waconia hospital for injuries received.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Plato first responders, and Ridgeview ambulance also responded to the scene.

About 40 minutes later, the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office responded to another snowmobile crash in the area of Highway 212 and Acorn Avenue, east of Plato.

Daniel Joseph Flusemann, 53, of Norwood Young America, was injured while driving a 2009 Polaris Shift.

He was transported by Glencoe ambulance to the Waconia Hospital for treatment of injuries received.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Plato first responders, and Ridgeview Ambulance also responded to the scene.
