Will our nation survive?

Will true Christianity flourish, or even survive in our nation in the coming years?

More than ever, I see clear signs that we need truth. The entire nation, especially those who attend a church, need to hear truth. And truth is a person. His name is Jesus Christ.

I believe our nation’s problems are worse than most realize or care to believe. The foundation of our nation, built upon God Almighty, has been chipped and cut away at with great intensity for decades. This spiritual attack has brought sin and decay that threatens to completely consume our morals, godliness, and holiness as a nation.

The only one that can save us is the same one whose name means “to save,” that is, Jesus, the Son of the living God. He alone is truth and life for every individual and every nation.

The Bible says “blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; but cursed are men who trust in mankind and make flesh their strength.” If the pastors, preachers, prophets, teachers, and evangelists in this nation collectively stand up and pour out the uncompromised truth, I believe our nation will be saved, even flourish. If not, I believe our nation may be lost.

The true church, alone, with Christ as her head, has what is needed to save this nation; the truth. The Word, alone, can save us from destruction.

This is nothing new. The Word of God has always been the answer. Unfortunately, it is also true that, historically, the people of God drift away from God and righteous living.

The book of Judges, and first and second Chronicles reveals how over time, God’s people turned away from Him and toward themselves and their selfish desires, time after time.

This same trend has happened in this nation, as well. There have been three, and some say four “great awakenings” in this nation, with the first one beginning around 1725, and the third around the turn of the 20th century. Each lasted for a couple decades before losing momentum, with many people falling back into their old sinful ways.

Also it is true that some teachers of the Word pervert the Word of God to their own liking and destruction and the destruction of those they lead astray. The Apostle Peter said they are unlearned, unstable, and unprincipled, distorting the Apostle Paul’s teachings and other scripture (the Old Testament), as well.

Peter warns “be on guard of such unprincipled men so that you are not carried away by their error and fall.” (2 Peter 3:15-17). If we believe we can have false or adulterated and watered-down teachings of God’s Word to placate some or be accepted by society, and receive the promises of God, we are deceived.

God has been calling His people to come out from among the world and be separate and holy unto Him. The Lord Almighty has been calling the church to rid itself of blatant sin. There is an urgent call to holiness, to be holy because God is holy and to live by the commands and precepts given by Jesus Christ and to follow Him.

We desperately need an awakening of God’s people in this land. Those who are lukewarm must become ignited for Jesus. We need a move of God’s Spirit to bring us to repentance, born again, the evidence of salvation, and filled with the Holy Spirit. We need to yield to the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.

The future of a nation is largely dependent upon the future direction of the church. God said if His people humble themselves and turn from sin, then He will hear their cry from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14).

I pray us, God’s people, will humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways so that God will hear our cry from heaven and heal this land and save a people. I pray God open up the blind eyes and deaf ears and come visit us.
