The perspectives on life for Tom Nelson and Rick Reisgraf, members of Elim Mission Church in Cokato, were forever changed when they experienced their first mission trip with Jesus in Haiti Ministries last January.
Having gone with a church group from Becker, when the two returned, they decided they wanted to get a local group together to go back.
“When we were in Haiti, we saw the need there,” Nelson said, adding that it was a big reality check for him.
Nelson said that he strongly feels that as Americans, we are blessed and we should share our blessings with those in need.
“It’s a calling I feel the Lord has given us,” Nelson said.
Jesus in Haiti Ministries has areas of ministry called “Points of Light,” and includes ministry, education, and orphanages.
Members on the mission trip will have the opportunity to help in a variety of ways, whether it be through ministry to children or construction to upgrade facilities.
Traveling with Nelson and Reisgraf are Chuck Herdegen, Jennah Ness, Cary Linder, Sandy Linder, Russ Irvin, Jordan Irvin, Torn Krekelberg, Tyler Krekelberg, Bruce Severson, Diane Severson, John Walter, Shannon Walter, Kerry Herdegen, and Sara Bakeberg.
