DASSEL, COKATO, MN – Neighbors across the country will recognize National Night Out (NNO) Tuesday, Aug. 2 as they take the time to get to know each other and their law enforcement agencies in an effort to improve awareness and safety.

Cokato NNO

Several neighborhoods in Cokato will celebrate National Night Out from 6 to 8 p.m.

Ten neighborhoods have signed up thus far with Cokato City Hall and there is still time for more, according to City Administrator Don Levens.

Providing demonstrations to the participating neighborhoods will be Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Cokato Volunteer Fire Department, and Cokato Ambulance Service.

For those neighborhoods that do sign up, the city will help with necessary supplies to help reduce the cost of the neighborhood gatherings. It also helps to insure a visit from public safety officials.

For more information, call city hall at (320) 286-5505.

NNO in Dassel

Once again, Meeker County law enforcement officials will be visiting the Dassel Fire Hall this year during National Night Out.

From 4 to 8 p.m., residents are invited to come out to meet the various public safety officials and enjoy a barbecue served by local firefighters.

Members of the Meeker County posse will be present, and possibly one of the horses (depending on the temperature), said Captain Jon Thoma, who is coordinating the event. The K-9 unit may also be present for a demonstration.

Lake Washington NE Shore Block Party

It’s the sixth annual Lake Washington North East Shore Block Party at the Dassel Rod and Gun Club from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Social hour will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., with a potluck dinner following.

The Meeker County K-9 unit will provide demonstrations as well.
