McLEOD, CARVER, WRIGHT COUNTIES, MN – Four area townships have updates for this week:

Winsted Twp. reviews gravel bids
Winsted Township will meet Thursday, March 24 at 6 p.m. in the Vollmer Room of Winsted City Hall to discuss gravel bids for 2011, Clerk Susan Goebel noted.

The discussion began at the regular township meeting March 10. The board tabled any action until Supervisor Brian Anderson follows up with one of the suppliers to get clarification on gravel specifications and hauling costs.

In other action, the board signed a 10-year contract with the Lester Prairie Fire Department.

Camden Twp. decreases levy
At Camden Township’s annual meeting, the board approved a 2012 levy that is $35,000 less than in 2011, Clerk Roger Sauerbrey reported.

The 2012 general fund of $55,000 is $5,000 less than last year, and the $200,000 road and bridge fund is $30,000 less than last year. The fire protection fund remained the same, at $59,000.

At Camden Township’s regular meeting March 10, the board renewed the fire contract with the city of New Germany for 2012, in the amount of $28,935 (an $846 decrease from 2011).

Bergen Twp. approves lower levy
Bergen Township decided to decrease road and bridge funding by $20,000 and keep other funding the same in 2012, Clerk Amy Meyer noted.

The road and bridge levy amount is $170,000, the general fund is $30,000, and fire protection is $35,000.

In other business, the board signed a contract with the Glencoe Fire Department.

Also, Bergen Township’s board of appeal and equalization meeting is set for Tuesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. at the Bergen Township Hall.

Woodland Twp. increases levy
Electors at Woodland Township’s annual meeting increased the levy to $283,500, according to Clerk Gloria Janikula.

“This amount was increased due to a couple of years supply of gravel the township plans to purchase this coming year,” Janikula noted.
