Called to live for Christ

As the winter slowly melts away, and the days begin to be longer and warmer, spring comes to our homeland. It is in the springtime of the year when Christians celebrate the life that Christ won for us, by dying on the cross, conquering death, and promising to us everlasting life in God’s kingdom. Whenever we see a cross, we should be reminded of this great act of love.

The heart of Christianity is charity. The cross reminds us and inspires us to live each and every day, grateful for God’s love and the opportunity we have to share that love with others.

In the Bible, Matthew 20:28 says, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” God loved, and loves us so much that He sent His Son down and watched him die.

John 3:16 also says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

The cross is not only our hope and salvation, it holds the power for us to become like Christ, giving of ourselves for the sake of others. It is the cross that leads us to the joy of Easter and new life.

May this springtime of the year renew us in our call as Christians to live like Christ.
