Creating a music CD is a complicated task

If you have ever wondered what it takes to pull off creating a music CD from start to finish, I had that same question when California had my lyric works in the palm of their hand.

They just recently wrote to me as they have been continually supportive and answering any concerns I have had over the past months. Others and I are patiently waiting for the release of the CD, and for the music to be heard on the radio.

This is what the company wrote back to say:

Dear Pam Fiecke,

All arranging and recording of your material has been completed. The master recording session went very well. The musicians sounded great, and I am sure you will be pleased with your finished CD album.

The production of a quality CD album project is not an overnight job. It is a multiple person, multiple task creative process, and it takes time. After your lyrics or songs passes its along for screening, and then goes to the producer and arranger for music composition or rewriting and arranging.

The arrangement of your song is then put into a computer by one of our arrangers and any changes in the key or in the form of the song are carefully gone over. Based on the instrumentation called for by the arrangement, the appropriate musicians are contracted and the recording studio is booked.

Once the master recording session has been completed, each song is edited and carefully mixed into the final album configuration. A master CD is then compiled and sent to the CD duplication plant.

CD tray cards then need to be printed, the cover art alone requires art direction, graphic design, photo rights clearances and license fees, type selections, color separations, and then, finally, printing.

And, this is just a thumbnail sketch of all these tasks. It takes time to get it done and time to get it right, but we’re well on our way.

The finished CDs are going to look great and sound great. And once you get your finished CD album in hand, I’m sure you’ll agree, it was worth all the effort.

When reading what it takes to produce a CD, it’s a lot to comprehend. Both of the CDs had some small details to finishing up with, but are now completed. The titles of the two CDs are waiting to be announced.

I have just been informated that both CDs will be released right before Christmas.
