ROCKFORD, MN – Cowboyz Bar and Grill, located on Main Street in downtown Rockford, was destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon.

A 911 call was received at 3:37 p.m. by Wright County Communications that the roof of the bar was on fire, according to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.

Wright County deputies arrived on scene with the Rockford Fire Department and found a large amount of smoke coming from the roof.

Rockford Fire Department called for assistance from by departments from Delano, Loretto, Hanover, Buffalo, and Maple Plain.

The fire was extinguished, and damage was contained to the single building, according to the sheriff’s office.

“It’s very difficult to fight a fire like this because of the proximity to the buildings together,” said Rockford Fire Chief Ben Sanderson at the scene, giving credit to his assistant chief for making sure the fire didn’t expand to other buildings.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire, and the building appears to be a total loss.

A cook working at the establishment made the 911 call, according to Sanderson.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Rockford Fire Department and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s office.
