DELANO, MN The American Legion in Delano is hosting the eighth annual Relay for Life cancer survivor dinner Friday, July 13 at 6 p.m.
The event will include a complimentary meal, catered by R&B Restaurant in Watertown; door prize drawings, and a message by childhood cancer survivor and Miss Wright County International, Danielle Emberg, who had kidney cancer.
Following the dinner, attendees and community members are welcome to attend the City of Hope ceremony at 8:30 p.m. at the large tree next to Three Crows Coffee Shop.
Delano Mayor Dale Graunke will deliver a short message before lighting the tree and kicking off Paint the Town Purple, which will continue through Saturday, July 28.
Purple is the color of hope, as recognized by the American Cancer Society. The community is encouraged to decorate their homes and businesses with purple lighting and decorations in support of all cancer survivors and Relay For Life.
Relay for Life
The community is welcome to attend the Relay For Life event, which will take place at the Delano City Park Friday, July 27 through Saturday, July 28.
There will be dinner available from the Delano Lion’s Club; activities for children, including a bounce house, dunk tank, and crazy hair; a silent auction, numerous campsite activities and fundraisers, and much more.
The relay starts at 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 27, with an opening ceremony at 6:30 p.m., and a luminaria ceremony at 9:30 p.m.
The entire event will wrap up Saturday, July 28 at 5:30 a.m.
