The filing period has ended for the six local townships that have elections Tuesday, March 13.

Generally, one supervisor and the clerk positions are up, which feature three-year and two-year terms, respectively.

Stockholm Township

There are two positions up for election in Stockholm Township, including those of supervisor David Sand, and clerk Jody Selseth.

No one filed for either position, so there will be a “write-in” election.

Also on the ballot will be a question asking voters if they want a five-member township board. Currently, there are three supervisors, and a majority vote would allow for five.

Sand explained this would change the quorum size from two to three, allowing for two members to talk on the phone without breaking the open meeting law. Read a letter from Sand's in Monday's Enterprise Dispatch.

The annual meeting for Stockholm will follow and include discussion of the levy, budget, and fire protection.

Election results will also be discussed and if the ballot question passes, the board will need to decide if it will hold a special election or wait until the next general election to elect additional supervisors.

Cokato Township

In Cokato Township, the two positions up for election include the supervisor position of Dean Mahlstedt, as well as the clerk position of Brad Morris.

Both incumbents re-filed.

Polling hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Cokato Township Hall, and the annual meeting will follow.

The annual meeting agenda consists of reviewing the financial statement, the fire contract, roads and bridges, and other concerns of the township citizens.

Collinwood Township

In Collinwood Township, the supervisor position currently served by David Prieve is open, as well as the clerk position of Larry Ostlund.

Both incumbents re-filed.

Polling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. at Collinwood Township Hall, with the annual meeting to follow.

At the annual meeting, there will be discussion regarding ditches, dust control, road sign replacement, and the possible elimination of signs that may not be necessary. The board also will discuss a future blacktop overlay project near Lake Washington, which may take place in 2013 or 2014.

French Lake Township

In French Lake Township, Rosanne Peterson’s position as clerk is up for election, as well as the position of supervisor Daniel Leinonen.

Both incumbents re-filed.

Polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at French Lake Township Hall.

The annual meeting will follow.

Dassel Township

There are two positions open in Dassel Township, including Karin Colberg’s clerk position, and Karl Townsend’s supervisor position.

Both incumbents re-filed.

Polls will be open Tuesday, March 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dassel History Center.

Dassel Township will meet for its annual meeting Tuesday, March 13 at 8:15 p.m., following the election. Items on the agenda include review of the budget and levy, new sign program, and a five-year plan for roadwork.

Ellsworth Township

In Ellsworth Township, the supervisor position currently served by Larry Graf is open, as well as the clerk position of Gordy Seiffert.

Both incumbents re-filed.

Polling will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with the annual meeting taking place after the polls close.

At the annual meeting, new levies, fire contracts, and potential projects for 2012 will be reviewed.
