DASSEL-COKATO, MN – Dassel-Cokato Middle School and High School students will have a day to explore an array of health education during the 2012 Dassel-Cokato Health Fair Wednesday, March 21.

The day will include a 30-minute tour in the east gymnasium with 21 local presenters. Topics range from physical and mental health, drug awareness, safe driving, healthy eating, physical fitness, emergency preparedness, electrical safety, and more.

“I hope that it’s a day that offers enough variety for students,” said Tracy Kraemer, district nurse.

Each student will be given a bingo card and vendors will have either have them do a related activity or have them answer a question that can be found in the booth. Students who get bingo, will receive a gift card to a local business or restaurant, as well as Charger gear.

Also part of the health fair, the middle school and high school students will have a large-group speaker in the performing arts center.

In the morning, the middle school will hear from Alison Feigh, of the Jacob Wetterling Foundation, who will share ways for growing up safe and the dangers of leaving an online footprint.

In the afternoon, high school students will hear testimonials of young adults representing Minnesota Teen Challenge with the program “Know the Truth.”

This program will educate students on addiction and the consequences of choices.

The public is invited to tour the health fair from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

It’s a great way to “see what our local community has to offer on ways for living a healthy lifestyle,” Kraemer said.

A handful of staff has helped Kraemer organize this year’s health fair including: from the high school – Kelly Kosloski, Danita Piepenburg, Jon Nelson, Eric Sawatzke, Brooks Helget, Amanda Berg, Anne Mahoney, Drew Gilmore, Patty Sterner, Dean Jennissen; from the middle school – Brian Franklin, Wendy Runquist, Katie Erickson, Anna Reedy, and Carrie Berggren.
