Loretto Fun Fest promises something for everyone

LORETTO, MN – The 13th annual Loretto Fun Fest is on tap Saturday, Sept. 15 and the schedule of events includes live music and fireworks among many other family-friendly events.

Children’s activities begin at 1 p.m. and will continue through 7 p.m. at Loretto Lions Park. Fun activities will include inflatables and the kiddie train, a rock climbing wall from to 2 to 7 p.m., and Gonzo the Clown from 4 to 7 p.m. The first clue for the medallion hunt will be posted at 1 p.m. at the Lions Park concession stand.

The market and music on West Railway Street (in front of Axel’s) will also take place from 1 to 7 p.m. To sign up to be a vendor at the Fun Fest market, contact Cindy Spaulding at cspaulding@21stcenturybank.com.

Weather permitting, tethered hot air balloons will also be provided compliments of RE/MAX from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m.

Additional live music begins at 3 p.m. with Ancient Drum, followed by Local Rhythm from 4:10 to 5:10 p.m.

The Prairie Boys play from 5:15 to 7:45 p.m., followed by a break for the fireworks at 8:10 p.m. From 8:30 p.m. until midnight, there will be a street dance showcasing The Irresistibles Sweet Soul Show featuring Mick Sterling.

Led by multiple Minnesota Music Award winner Sterling on lead vocal, along with the beautiful duo of Katie Gearty and Cate Fierro, The Irresistibles vocals are energy filled and brimming with passion.

Food, beer, and concessions will be available throughout the festivities.

Fun Fest buttons are being sold and are required to gain entrance to all events. Buttons cost $10 in advance, or $12 the day of the event ($10 that day with food shelf donation). The purchase of the button also includes entry into a drawing of prizes.

Fun Fest buttons are available in advance this week at 21st Century Bank, the Loretto Post Office, Koch’s Korner, Sts. Peter and Paul parish, and Loretto City Hall.

In case of rain, many events will be moved to the Sts. Peter and Paul parish center. A rain date for fireworks will be Saturday, Sept. 22.

• $25 gift certificate to Elite Cleaners and Tanning of Loretto

• $50 Visa gift card donated by 21st Century Bank

• $25 grocery gift certificate to Maple Plain Food Center

• $25 gift certificate to Liquor Depot of Loretto

• Two $10 gift certificates to Koch’s Korner

• Round of golf for four with cart at Baker Park

• Two tickets to the Little River Band (Oct. 26) at the Medina Entertainment Center ($54 value)

• $25 gift certificate to Robert’s Restaurant and Bar at the Medina Entertainment Center

• Four bowling passes and shoe rental from the Medina Entertainment Center

• Two tickets to a Minnesota Wild game (game TBD, $150 value), donated by Quentin and Jason Lucking
