COKATO, MN – The corner of Highway 12 and CSAH 3 in Cokato is looking a bit more lively these days with two new tenants renting the former Jack’s Marine building.

The building, currently owned by Brad and Erin Halonen, has been remodeled, and provides business space for Nate Lantto, owner of Nate’s PC Service, and Deb Halonen of DebraJDesigns.

Location, location, location, is what Lantto saw in the property.

Prior to opening his doors Sept. 1, Lantto worked out of his home as a computer technician, mainly fixing computers for friends and family.

Working on computers is something he has enjoyed nearly all his life.

He started out by taking computer courses at Annandale High School, graduating from in 1991, and the desire stuck with him.

Lantto had been working full time at Niemeyer RV Sales until he was laid off in 2008, when the economy went south, he said. That’s when he branched out and began taking on more computer work.

“I started doing more computers just to fill in the gap until the next job came and it became the next job,” Lantto commented.

His services include:

• virus removal, which includes a free analysis;

• screen replacement for smart phones;

• remote desktop service;

• mother board replacements; and

• upgrades, which Lantto said is a smart, inexpensive alternative to update computers that are only three or four years old, rather than replacing them.

He mainly works on PCs, but has been getting into Macintosh computers a bit, as well, he said. He also sells Dell desktop and laptop computers that are corporate lease returns.

“What I sell is business class,” Lantto said. “The quality is far beyond what you’d find in a retail store.”

He also gives a one-year warranty on everything he sells.

His inventory will soon increase with cell phone chargers and accessories and prepaid services.

Since his move, business has been good, proving that location really does matter.

“It’s been very beneficial coming here,” he said, adding that in just one month, he had reached a goal he set for six months.

Nate’s PC Service is open Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; or by appointment at (320) 282-6717.
