CARVER, McLEOD COUNTIES, MN – Three area townships have updates this week:

Hollywood Twp. to consider wireless Internet service Feb. 13
At the Monday, Feb. 13 Hollywood Township meeting, the board will discuss allowing the city of Cologne to offer wireless Internet service in the township.

“Interested residents are encouraged to attend the meeting and participate in the discussion,” Clerk Becky Burns noted.

The meeting will also include information regarding future maintenance plans for 22nd Street and Wagon Avenue. The roads in question are currently blacktop roads that are deteriorating, Burns reported.

Sheriff’s update for Winsted Twp.
Winsted Township had 853 emergency calls in 2011, McLeod County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Stiles reported at the township’s January meeting.

In other business, the township board reviewed the McLeod County dog ordinance as it applies to the township, and heard that gravel specifications were sent to selected contractors for bids.

The township’s next meeting will be Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m.

Camden Twp. encourages the start of fire boards
The Camden Township board is encouraging cities that it has fire contracts with to consider setting up a fire board, as a way to conveniently communicate with the township.

“We have some fire boards that are working great. We have one, sometimes two, meetings a year,” Clerk Roger Sauerbrey noted.

Sauerbrey reported that everything is going well between Camden Township and contracting cities, and establishing a fire board could be a way to further enhance the relationship.

In other business, the township is researching groups to do road cleanup this year, but will not know what grant money will be available until February.
