Township annual meetings and elections March 13

WRIGHT, McLEOD, CARVER COUNTIES, MN – Annual meetings for local townships are set for Tuesday, March 13.

Four of the townships also have elections that day.

Generally, one supervisor and the clerk positions are up, which feature three-year and two-year terms, respectively.

A few local exceptions are Hollywood, Camden, Bergen, and Winsted townships, which conducted their elections in the fall.

Victor Township
Polls in Victor Township will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Victor Township Hall, 8718 90th St. SW in Howard Lake.

David Hoover’s term as supervisor for Victor Township is up, as well as Sharon Glessing’s position as clerk.

Both incumbents re-filed.

The township’s annual meeting will start at 8:15 p.m., and will include discussion about recycling and financial responsibilities for road damages caused by repetitive hauling.

Victor Township’s public accuracy test for the AutoMark ballot marking machine will take place Monday, March 12 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Victor Township Hall.

Middleville Township
In Middleville Township, the polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Middleville Township Hall, 3014 County Rd. 6 SW, Howard Lake.

John Walter’s term as supervisor is up, as well as Joey Berg’s term as clerk.

Both incumbents re-filed.

The board of canvass will meet immediately after the polls close to certify the official election results.

The annual meeting will start immediately after the board of canvass. The main items on the agenda is the proposed levy.

The next regular Middleville Township meeting has been changed to Monday, March 12 at 7 p.m. at the Middleville Township Hall.

Woodland Township
Polls for Woodland Township will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Woodland Township features two open seats. Supervisor Jim Trombley’s position is up, as well as Clerk Gloria Janikula’s position.

Dan Domjahn filed for the supervisor position, and Janikula re-filed for the clerk position.

The annual meeting for Woodland Township will take place at 8:05 p.m. at the Woodland Township Hall, 2070 County Road 30 SW in Montrose. The main agenda item is the levy.

Marysville Township
In Marysville Township, the polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Marysville Township has one seat open, for the supervisor position currently served by Augie Riebel.

Riebel re-filed for the supervisor position.

The annual meeting will take place at 8:05 p.m. at the Marysville Township Hall, 3733 Dempsey Ave. SW in Waverly. Items on the agenda include the levy, dust control, and discussion about possible equipment purchases.

Hollywood Township
Hollywood Township’s annual meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Hollywood Town Hall, one block east of the Hollywood Sports Complex on Carver County Road 122.

In case of inclement weather, the meeting may be postponed until Tuesday, March 20.

All township residents are encouraged to attend the meeting, which provides an opportunity to get updates on the township, voice opinions, and have direct input on township issues.

The agenda for the annual meeting includes discussion about wooded lots, setting tax levies, various reports, gravel purchases, road maintenance, and other business brought by the citizens of Hollywood Township.

The agenda for the meeting is available on the township website, www.hollywoodtownship.com.

Camden Township
The annual meeting for Camden Township will take place at 7 p.m. at the Camden Township Hall, 315 State Ave. S. in New Germany.

In case of inclement weather, the meeting may be postponed until Tuesday, March 20.

Items on the agenda include fire contracts, approval of the 2011 financial report, presentations by commissioners or other public officials, and levy recommendations by the town board. The board is recommending $52,500 for the general fund, $200,000 for the road and bridge fund, and $59,000 for the fire fund.

Bergen Township
Bergen Township’s annual meeting will take place at 8 p.m. at the Bergen Township Hall, 16595 Babcock Avenue in Lester Prairie.

In case of inclement weather, the meeting may be postponed until Tuesday, March 20.

Bergen Township’s assessment and equalization meeting will take place at the town hall Thursday, April 5 at 7 p.m.

Winsted Township
The annual meeting for Winsted Township will take place at 8 p.m. at the Winsted City Hall, 201 1st St. N. in Winsted.

Items on the agenda include reviewing last year’s budget, setting next year’s levy, road project discussion, and a fire department presentation.

Watertown Township
The annual meeting for Watertown Township will be at 7 p.m. at the Watertown Town Hall, 3580 County Rd. 10 N. in Watertown.

At the meeting, residents may pick up special waste collection coupons, which will credit up to $10 at the Douglas Kugler Eco Site at 676 Industrial Blvd. in Watertown.

A few items on the annual meeting agenda include reading of the entire prior year minutes, 2011 financial statements and board of audit, reports on fire protection/sheriff’s contracts, road maintenance projects, and setting the 2013 levy.
