Delano council has another meeting on personnel matter

DELANO, MN – Another closed session took place Tuesday evening with the Delano City Council and city attorney Mark Johnson of Gregerson, Rosow, Johnson and Nilan regarding the ongoing investigation of a “personnel issue.”

Johnson, reached after the meeting, said there was no conclusion reached by the city council that discipline might be warranted. He said another meeting on the matter has not been scheduled, and that there is no additional information available at this time.

Johnson said the meeting was closed under the state statute that indicates:

“A public body shall close one or more meetings for preliminary consideration of allegations or charges against an individual subject to its authority.

“If the members conclude that discipline of any nature may be warranted as a result of those specific charges or allegations, further meetings or hearings relating to those specific charges or allegations held after that conclusion is reached must be open.

“A meeting must also be open at the request of the individual who is the subject of the meeting.”

Additional information on the personnel issue has not been disclosed.

In addition to Tuesday, the council has discussed the issue Oct. 15, Sept. 17, and Aug. 20.
