DASSEL, MN Dassel Medical Center has recently undergone two significant changes that will improve patient care.
In January, Hutchinson Medical Center merged with Hutchinson Area Health Care and is now under the Hutchinson Health umbrella of care.
Also under the umbrella is Dassel Medical Center, Orthopaedic and Rehab Clinic, the Hutchinson Health Clinic, and the Mental Health Clinic, as well as the hospital.
The second improvement came in February with the implementation of the new electronic health records system, Excellian.
This new patient record-keeping system is used by the majority of medical facilities so that patients have the ability to have records move with them.
“I think this will be a very positive change,” commented Michael Long, certified physician’s assistant at the medical center.
The objective of these changes is to improve patient care, “which is our primary focus,” Longs said.
Dassel Medical Center is conveniently located on Highway 12 in Dassel and provides infant to senior care.
Practicing family medicine at the Dassel clinic are: Michael Long, physician assistant; Mary Maier, and Ann Riewer, both family nurse practitioners; and Dr. Timothy Remple, medical doctor.
The Dassel Medical Center also offers three speciality care options including mental health care with Stacy Nichols, MD; podiatry with David Maher, DPM; and orthopaedics with Paul Coleman, PA-C.
