DASSEL, MN Priscilla Medcraft has joined the occasional store mix in Dassel with Mary Jo’s, opening Wednesday.
To offer something different to the already existing climate of vintage boutiques, Medcraft decided to offer gourmet candies and food, in addition to home and kitchen decor.
“We wanted to specialize in what others don’t,” she said.
Medcraft, who originally began selling greeting cards and pillows out of her Willis Street home, decided to take her business to the next level.
Located on Third Street in the former Lily Bea’s building, Mary Jo’s offers greater visibility by surrounding itself with the other occasional stores, Medcraft noted.
The store, however, will be more than an occasional store, as Medcraft plans to be open weekly Wednesday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours during the occasional store weekend.
Medcraft chose the name Mary Jo’s as a way to honor her mother, who died in 1985.
In addition to gourmet candy, food mixes, and jams, Mary Jo’s offers new and vintage gifts, furniture, gift baskets, jewelry, and much more. There will also be a seasonal room set up, Medcraft noted.
Giftwrapping will also be available.
