DASSEL, MN The Red Rooster Days committee has made some changes for the 2013 Red Rooster Days Grande Day Parade in hopes of improving the safety and flow.
First, the route has been shorted and redirected so that entrants will line up on Linart Avenue, Third Street, and Centennial Avenue.
The parade will begin on Fifth Street N. and Centennial Avenue, proceed south to William Avenue, east to Willis Street, and head north to the covenant church on Lake Street.
“It should work a lot better,” commented Larry Oberg, member of the Red Rooster committee.
Pre-registration is also new this year. Registration should be completed by Thursday, Aug. 15, and can be made by going online at www.dassel.com, under Red Rooster Days. A form is also available at Dassel City Hall.
Registration will allow there to be a program made for the parade, and entrants will be provided with a number via e-mail by Wednesday, Aug. 21.
Though the parade will be five blocks shorter than in the past, there is expected to be more entrants than last year, including more marching bands.
Bands will be judged, along with floats, Oberg commented. Awards will be given to the top three floats in the parade.
Anyone with questions may contact Oberg at (320) 469-6149.lick here for more information.
