WINSTED, MN The Winsted Arts Council is planning a summer concert of gospel, old-time, Americana, and bluegrass music at Mill Reserve Park in Winsted Saturday, July 20.
The event will start at 7 p.m., featuring the Delano-based band Singleton Street. The Winsted Lions Club will be serving brats and hot dogs, and ice cream will also be served.
Singleton Street has been performing throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin for more than a decade. Band members include Chuck and Sherri Leyda of Delano, and Jim Newkirk of St. Louis Park.
The band’s website describes its style as “a little Saturday night and a little Sunday morning, but always a good time had by all.”
Chuck and Sherri Leyda, who were both theatre majors in college, got married in 1990. They started their own theatre company, Dark Horse, when they graduated. Later on, the couple traveled throughout the US, playing Irish songs at concerts and festivals.
They moved to Delano about 10 years ago, and have three children, Clara, Rowan, and Mary.
Today, Singleton Street makes appearances at bluegrass and gospel festivals, churches, coffee houses, and parties.
