DELANO, WRIGHT COUNTY, MN Emergency 911 telephone service has been restored locally following a several-hour outage Saturday that impacted a five-county area in central Minnesota.
Benton, Sherburne, Stearns and Wright counties and the western portion of Hennepin County were affected by the outage, reported the Star Tribune. Callers in those areas could still report emergencies by using the main phone numbers for the sheriffs’ offices.
An update from the Wright County Sheriff’s Office Saturday night after the service had been restored noted the county is working with its phone provider to ensure a reliable 911 system.
During the outage, members of the Delano Fire Department stood by at the station in the event of emergencies in the coverage area. Fourth of July Celebration organizers were provided a direct number to the fire department for emergency response.
Residents were still able to get through to local dispatch centers by calling non-emergency numbers. In Wright County, the non-emergency number for Wright County Communications is (763) 682-1162.
